2020 Debrief & Looking Ahead to 2021

Personal

2020 was a year! Lots of good, lots of stressors, lots of growth. In all, we had a good year. With the pandemic, things didn’t really affect us much, thankfully as the “lockdowns” were pretty much how we rolled from the beginning. We were kept from attending church for a short while, but able to move past that. I’m pretty sure we all ended up getting covid early on and getting over it without any problems. We got to see the kids grow and change in new and amazing ways, especially Benaiah as he went from baby to toddler this year. Here are some pictures of the year in that regard.

Love the LORD, all you his saints! The LORD preserves the faithful but abundantly repays the one who acts in pride. Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the LORD!

Psalm 31:23-24 ESV

The Lord has been good to us this year, given us lessons to learn, conflicts to wrestle with, blessings abundant. My prayer is that we are faithful as He desires, and reliant on His goodness to accomplish that. Also, Psalm 31 is the Psalm of the year. Read it, then read it again.

Hunting was highlight this year because my Grandpa came with my dad to hunt with us. We weren’t successful in that we did not harvest any deer, but there were a lot of memories made. A couple days of the trip, Grandpa, Dad, myself and Dustin all got to go out together, 4 generations hunting together. I also got to take my lovely bride out for a day. The picture of the buck we saw was at a park in town; I’m pretty sure he was snickering that we couldn’t get him. Next year though…

2020 was the year we made it through trade school.
My photo app put these two pictures together as a mark of time gone by. I think the above one was from 3ish years ago. I showed Kara and she thought it was a good summary of me.
Look out 2021, here comes TeamVolkman!
